[Tfug] e2fsck question

Let it run overnight before judging it dead.  You're probably in pass 1B
-- a scan for duplicate and/or bad blocks.  I expect a drive that size
to run for several hours.  With USB it might be a day.  As you've
noticed, the progress bar isn't very accurate.
