i can't find the inverter. should i take apart the display assembly now?
the service manual shows a nice exploded view of the display assembly that
shows nothing like the ebay pics. no card-like thing. and no mention of
the inverter. google turns up nothing for how to replace the inverter.
i removed the keyboard assembly and the hinge according to your
instructions and the service manual. near the hinge are the following.
o the video card (in the center terminating the display cable),
o the display cable (goes widely from
a mylar cable attached via a dual inline connector through a stress
point into the right hinge narrowly)
o a board that contains the power, volume, etc. button switches on the left.
o the thermal cooling assembly (as opposed to a non-thermal
cooling assembly? :-)) on right, cd on left, i/o panel, mainboard below.
and that's it. what am i missing or mistaking?
the service manual that i found is at:
http://support.jp.dell.com/docs/systems/ins8100/en/sm_en/remove.htm#1050990
http://docs.us.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins8100/en/sm_en/remove.htm#1024986
(the bad formatting is because gmail ads obscure part of the text input box.
i will fix it eventually with firefox extension or by changing usercontent.css.)
thanks
