I'm trying to get a SMC8041TX PCMCIA NIC to be recognized in a
EMachines Slate (laptop) 400 (AMDK6-2/400, 96 Mb RAM). The link light
for the 100 Mb comes on amber = half-duplex. The PCMCIA card
options doesn't show up anywhere in the configuration options in
Mandrake 8.2. I had downloaded and installed the PCMCIA-CS
tar.gzip and Mandrake reports the PCMCIA slot is being recognized.
I added the SMC info to the config file in the /etc/pcmcia directory.
I've also installed RP-PPPOE (I have DSL at home.)

Any tools or commands I should use for getting the NIC to be
full-duplex? (The 8041TX is a 16-bit card) and to get the 
PCMCIA card and Ethernet connection recognized?
