[Tfug] Stallman vs Ubuntu

Just curious about the opinions of TFUG users on this:

Personally, although Linux is not my favorite "free Unix", I still find
myself having to run Ubuntu on new machines simply due to hardware support.
At the very least just to determine which driver(s) I will need.

A default Ubuntu install CD is usually guaranteed to have a kernel with
support for the widest range of hardware of any distribution. Or at least
that's how it seems to me...
