whereabouts do you live?

I _used to_ run an open AP (Tomato on a WRT54GL), but I shut it down
after I saw neighbors connected to it 100% of the time. Granted, it
had "guest" right in the SSID, but it was intended for friends/family
who came over and neighbors having ISP outages. Anyway, back to your
question...

Could you take a laptop or a phone and walk the neighborhood to find
out where the signal gets stronger? If you can pick it up from your
house, it can't be too far away, right?
