I actually have the old (dead) brick with it's detachable cord that fits 
this current brick. The old cord with the old brick is marked "7a-125v", 
while the current (groundless) cord that came from the current brick is 
marked "10a-125v". Are they compatible?

Both bricks and detachable cords were designed for this machine. I know 
that for sure.
