I suggest you try QEMU rather than VirtualBox... reasons inline:

Win 98 probably doesn't need that much ram.. giving it 128 should be enough.

With QEMU, you have USB, networking, display and audio devices (that
are easy to get drivers for), serial/parallel ports, etc.  It's almost
like being there.  And it's free software. There is also kqemu to
bring things up to near native speeds, although I'm not sure that
works with win98 yet.  Another bonus is that it can run off of real
disks and CD's, not only disk images.

I highly recommend QEMU as an excellent piece of software.  If you
