(sigh)  Not worth installing yet-another-tool (no
doubt with its own prerequisites and bugs!) for
something that should be pretty mundane (i.e.
moving a file hierarchy to another drive is
hardly a "21st century" undertaking...

I'll try the same task on a NetBSD box and see if
*it* goes off without a hitch (as it could just
be a Slowaris SNAFU).

Thx for the pointer though -- I'll file it for
future reference!
