WorldCare has a few SpaceBall 4000FLX's.  They have
been rebadged (as "IBM").  These are 3D motion
controllers (not quite the same thing as a "pointing
device" -- i.e., you use one of these *and* a pointing
device!).  Excellent for 3D CAD work or solid modeling
applications (I use one in SolidWorks under W2K).

I have no idea what -- if *any* -- Open/Free software
applications would support these.  In my experience,
most "high end" tools are just not available there  :<

They require a bit of practice to become proficient
but are almost invaluable thereafter!
