There seems to be a little difficulty in understanding my brand of
English-English. So let me help you out:
Jon, if you're insulted by my pointing out your use of racist language
and questioning your reasons for choosing that type of vehicle, then I'm
the foulest mouthest of the lot. That's what my comment about a bad
start was about -- your use of the word "ricer". Besides, you're the one
who got all defensive as soon as Brian Masur fingered SUVs as being the
vehicle of choice for Bad People(tm). In fact, according to the article,
Rob Levin was killed by someone driving a white four door car.
The reason most urbanites want an SUV is because they want an SUV. Your
height isn't stopping you from driving a smaller car; a small car, even:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060915/ap_on_re_eu/netherlands_tallest_people
Summary: the Dutch are getting taller. Average height 6'. Case in point,
Pieter Gijselaar is 7' tall (also 'over 6'10.5"'), owns a VW Golf, with
modified driver's seat. (I suspect at 6'8" you wouldn't need a
replacement for the VW height-adjustable seat. You're kinda the reason
they do it.)
Moving the occassional piece of furniture in the back of an SUV is also
based on faulty reasoning. Get it delivered. Rent a van. Buy some roof bars.
The only good reason for buying an off road vehicle? Off road use. And
just to spite those who'd like me to fit their "holier than thou"
stereotype, I should add I've owned two: a Range Rover and a Honda HR-V
(not CR-V) -- opposite ends of the off-roading spectrum, but both got
mucky for better reasons than "let's see what's down this track".
And Tyler, the environment and government? My views? wtf?
