[Tfug] remotely access 2wire 2700 dsl modem

Hi Ronald,

I could do that, but I'd rather not depend on an extra box that has to
be left on all the time and may in fact be the cause of any problem I
might have to troubleshoot remotely. I want to keep to a single IP
address from Qwest (I'm cheap) and it's currently a dynamic address
though it doesn't change often and I have other channels to detect ip
updates. I suppose I could try using a second box that has a wake-on-lan
feature but I don't have any experience with how reliable/fast the
wake-up would be.

The ideal solution would be to get a Qwest compatible dsl modem on a
pci card and build a small ipcop box around it. Then I'd have control
of the internal dhcp server, could add dyndns, sshd etc and only have
one box on most of the time. But I haven't seen any dsl pci cards. Anyone
have a source for one?
