[Tfug] PowerPC Linux

My brother is thinking of putting Linux on a G4 machine (not a laptop) he's
about to abandon for an OS X G5 PowerMac.  He's been interested in Linux
for some time, but hasn't really done much with it.  I know that there's
more than just Yellow Dog now available for PowerPC systems, but that's all
I know.  What distro and what books or other written resources would people
recommend for his adventure?
