Thanks for the suggestions.  The "noauto" option seems to meet the need.
Does anyone know if FC3 supports something along the lines of what JD
discussed from debian?  Making the system smart enought to know that it's
on the wrong network to be mounting certain filesystems (without waiting
for attempts to mount them timing out) would be a nice-to-have.
