The typical response would be to beat one's chest and brag. I admin 20 proprietary
UNIX boxes and other stuff with some idiots at work. When time permits, I want to
transition some of the databases off of MS-SQL. Lately, I've been playing
with Perl CGI on Apache using RedHat. Jack of all trades, whoopee.

Fishing expeditions are fine. But answering your own question might be useful for
a point of reference.

My tfug archive goes back to Mar '99. Over that time, some very bright Tfuggers
have cranked out useful advice. On occasion, someone gives presentations at the
meetings, but often people bring their own boxes for help.

Flames have ebbed and flowed, then the newbies call for rules. But to moderate the
list would result in useless power struggles and politics along with a lot of work
for a few thankless volunteers. Then you'd have something like a SIG at TCS.
If people want that, they can go there.
