This is the same Rage128 we just talked about, right? They've had hardware
colorspace conversion for ages. A PII/300 should be able to keep up with a
DVD once you have the colorspace conversion handled.
nVidia will do much worse unless you do the right incantations to get
their "magic binary goo" to work.

Xine, ogle, mplayer, vlc depending on while one I havn't broken at the
time.

This is referred to as correct (or big/large) endianness. Examples of
incorrect (or little/small) endianness include ext2, ext3, ReiserFS, and
the x86 processor
