[Tfug] initial mplayer stutter

a newer version of mplayer stutters when it plays a video.  it starts
the audio and video, then pauses for a half second, then runs.

presumably this is because it loads data.  i want to fix it so that it
doesn't start until it has enough data to start smoothly.

possible?

with an old version of mplayer, it would start smoothly.
