  Just glanced at the code in the 3c589_cs.c and the only real
  difference I noticed is that the 562 has an additional EEPROM.

  Do you have the full kernel source installed (including pcmcia
  support)?
  /usr/src/linux-2.4/drivers/net/pcmcia

  I would start there.
