[Tfug] Raspberry Pi

I got mine about 10 days ago, have tried Debian Squeeze, XBMC, Arch Linux
and now Raspbian. It's not nearly as fast as I was hoping, but XBMC looks
very promising, once it stabilizes.

The GUI in XBMC is very good and responsive, but it crashed whenever I went
to play any video.

Debian was good, but X apps were very slow.

Raspbian looks to be the best of the lot so far as a general purpose X
desktop machine, though it still has performance issues. Still, what can
one expect from a single core 800MHz processor?

I just spent this evening setting this machine up to drive a display TV at
work, logging in to X automatically and launching a web browser fullscreen
automatically on bootup.

If you want to play with one and have a spare $40 you can't really go
wrong, but it does help to have an idea of what you might want to do with
it ahead of time.

Cheers,
  Jeff
