[Tfug] grub rescue

 Sorry about the huge page of quoted text, I thought I deleted it!
 
 
Thanks for your help.  I managed to ls the contents of /boot/grub/ and it seems there are a couple of .cfg files there; along with the usual other stuff. 
 
It looks like once I download the live cd I'll be able to boot. 
 
I managed to get an additonal line by holding down the shift key as grub boots, it "Loading grub."
 
So know I get,
 
Loading grub. 
error: file not found
grub rescue:
 
 
The only command that functions is ls.
