Yeah, and that's why we check before buying a new rig.
If you don't have hardware virt, your SOLE choice for virtualization is
VirtualBox and...it's actually not the best. It's the *easiest*, yeah, but
it's not as stable as some other solutions.
There's a lot of KILLER deals out there in corporate-grade laptops about 3
to 4 years old...but Intel was doing some damned funky things here and there
with some CPUs.
It looks like in most cases they considered 64bit more critical than VT-x.
The only exception I've notices are the T2400/T2500/T2600 - and anything
with a "50" at the end is different!
