That's one way. Gmail also offers secure IMAP and SMTP, so even if a
provider blocks port 25 for outgoing messages, they probably won't be
blocking 465 or 587.

If you're averse to trusting your data with Google, I've had great
success with Tuffmail as well (http://www.tuffmail.com). The only
thing they do is email hosting, and they're dang good at it.
