Default subnet puts the printer om a different network. You either need a router in front of it or chang its ip to 192.168.2.something.
Default subnet is 255.255.255.0 for what used to be called a class c network.

Subject: [Tfug] once upon a time
Dimwit that I sometimes can be, I was troubleshooting my web connection speed. My setup is that I access my internet connection, printer etc. through a Dynex router. all was well until I decided to connect directly to my cable modem to see if there was a difference in speed. I then shut down the pc, modem and router, and rebooted to reestablish my original configuration.
Apparently not
Well now I am connected to the web o.k. but cannot print to the laser printer which is connected through the router.
If i try to address either the router (192.168.2.1) or the printer (192.168.0.250) the connection stalls, however I can connect to the modem....no trouble.
Anyway I have it all messed up. I would guess there is a sinple fix if anyone can suggest one.
