[Tfug] network connection

Does anyone have some guidance regarding sharing a Comcast connection with two boxes? Currently I am doing it via a wired router but it seems that it limits the speed I can enjoy to about 5mb/s even though I have a 8mb connection. 

Aside from abandoning Comcast or having them install a home network (Windows support only) on my Ubuntu Jaunty boxes what might the options be?
