I'll make a prediction:

The back end of it will be awesome, but it will be set up to do apps
"in the cloud" to such a degree that people won't want to use it
without either heavy tweaking or a fork off of it.

Google has been developing in-house Linux variants never seen by the
outside world for a LONG time - it's what all their search engine
stuff is based on.  So if they really dig into that knowledge base for
a new user-level distro, it could end up being as rich a "source
distro" as Debian.

It's a fair bet it'll be very different from anything seen before -
unless they DON'T dig into that internal stockpile and just "roll
their own Ubuntu-oid", which would be downright depressing.
