[Tfug] video card

I recently added a ATI Radeon v7500 video card to my box via the pci slot. It worked out of the box. I am unable however to run compiz because it apparently is detecting two video chips. Since there was a on-board video card (I disabled in bios) it sees the two chips. I need a workaround. I wonder if there is a command to tell me what hardware is being detected, etc.
