Just thought I'd let you know that I'm running into the same thing.
It's weird, there isn't any consistency to it either. I printed two
different years of a calendar in pdf format, and one did Letter while
the other did A4, even though in the pdf properties dialogs they both
said Letter.
I'm using cups and it is set to Letter as well. I always thought that
opensuse, which I use, is based out of europe, and assumed it was
because of some deep down system thing that it behaved like this.
Crazy europeans. I might be wrong though.
Anyway, this is mostly a solidarity reply. I don't have that much
printing to do, so it hasn't affected me that much, nor have I really
bothered research it. Later ~ Chris
