    Models with names ending in "L", or ending in "A" followed by a letter for color, are shipped with the Linpus Linux Lite operating system installed [7]. This offers a simplified user interface, with default applications like the Firefox 2 browser, OpenOffice.org 2.3, "Acer One Mail" and "Acer One Messenger" available directly on the main screen. In accordance with the GPL Acer has released the source code for Linpus Linux Lite and their modified Linux kernel.

    The default Linux OS has been designed to hide advanced features from the user and to prevent modification. However, it is still possible to modify it to present a more traditional desktop, enable more advanced features such as "right-click" context menus, or install additional software.[8]

    It is also possible to install and run other versions of Linux OS such as Ubuntu [9], EeeBuntu[10], the Ubuntu based Linux4one [11] and Linux Mint.

For the same price I just got an Acer Aspire One, but with a 160Gb hard drive
(1Gb RAM, Atom processor). Trying to get Ubuntu on it but having a hard time so
far - not given up yet. But the build quality seems very good.
