We use RHEL3 through 5 with Dell servers, primarily PowerEdge 2950's but
I've run it on lower end hardware (PowerEdge 2600's and S420's) as
well. The PERC4 RAID controller cards work with all RHEL distributions,
PERC5 only started working as of RHEL3 Update 8 I believe, and PERC6
cards (current) only work with RHEL4 Update 5 or so, not sure on the
exact release. Everything else "just works". I've not tried Ubuntu on
them.

cheers
