Ok, so the first part of this is for the reply previous to yours, but
I'm combining them b/c
there seems to be confusion in both emails.
So, it's not just that it only prints from web pages, it only prints
from firefox, as opposed
to opera. Furthermore, it prints from kpdf, but not acrobat reader.
It's not trying to print a windows job. Adobe makes a reader for linux
and I'm running it under
emulation.
I'll go ahead and look into the ppd file, since I did just choose the
model, but since I can
print web pages from some browsers and not others and pdf's from some
viewers and not
others, I don't think that's the issue.
incidentally, it just so turns out that I think all kde apps will be
able to print. I think this
because I just tried printing from konqueror and it gave me the same
friendly dialog like in
kpdf where I got to choose which printing system I wanted to use. For
those of you
interested, when you go File --> Print -->, under options there is a
choice to choose
Common Unix Print System.
This is why I think somewhere I have to link the lpr system to the CUPS system.
Finally, I did have to change permissions of ulpt0, but that was
simply to allow CUPS
to use ulpt0.
Anyway, that's where things stand ~ Chris
