[Tfug] Printers

A timely observation, and opposite to my experience on Friday. I've got
an HP OfficeJet Pro L7850 on my network that I normally print to from my
sole remaining Windows box (yes, it was a bitch to get working, and it
doesn't work entirely correctly, but it did print immediately after the
long install - more of an HP problem than a Windows problem, however).
Tried to config my CentOS machine to print to it, with zero success after
two reboots of the system (the Print Config app froze twice and would not
restart correctly without a reboot) and a printer power-cycle (it froze
trying to print the test page). This printer isn't on the config list, so
I defaulted to the standard HP hpijs (I think that's right) driver
(DirectJet connection option used). Gave up because I don't have time to
be a printer/computer tech person. So any color output goes to my Windows
machine and I print it from there. My experience with Linux has been that
network printers can be, for whatever reason, trickier to get working
right than a directly-connected printer.
