Question: when Python code is turned into .pyc bytecode, is there a Python
interpreter still needed? If so it probably can't get past the Federal
rules as written now.
And yeah, basically, the Federal testing process is a disaster. Which is
why we need open-source-based voting.
We need a system that is both good AND can get past the Federal test
process. If it's open source, "we the people" can figure out if it's any
good or not on our own, basically bypassing the Federal process. We can't
ignore it completely however because the laws in about 40 states or so make
state-level voting system certification dependent on the Fed system first.
Right now, an organization has a demo FOSS voting system available. It's
not anywhere near complete nor has the security implications been fully
sorted, but measured as a work-in-progress it's not bad and I *think* the
security problems are fixable.
Right now the whole user interface is in Python.
