[Tfug] OT: Proposed increase in H1B visas

The general fear is not that higher skilled people will come in and "take
your job", the fear, real or not (still TBD) is that less skilled people
(or even people with the same skills) will come in and charge a whole lot
less in salary and benefits and drive the price of talent down. Who's
going to buy someone for $50/hr when they can get "almost the same" for
$20/hr?
Now, I don't know what the real facts are, and I'm not sure if anyone does.
There are lots of "facts" floating around the blog-o-sphere, but I doubt
that most of it is worth much. The fear is, however, a glut of people
coming into the country and driving down the salaries.
