[Tfug] Dilemma: Qwest or Comcast?

If all you are doing is creating a new extension to a single line I believe
you can daisy chain from one jack to another. I have done it several times
in my home. However, ideally you would trace back to the junction block and
wire the 2 jacks in parallel. The thing you want to avoid is running too
many ringer circuits over the same tiny wire. This is probably more of a
problem with older phones that drew more current than today's electronic
units. Just make sure you get the colors right.

Ugh.
Now I'm really getting the runaround from both sides. My apartment
management says it's Qwest's problem, and Qwest says it's their problem.
How hard/possible would it be for me to cut out the middlemen and personally
wire the two jacks together? I have some ethernet wiring experience
(punchdowns, crimping cables, etc.), but I'm not an expert by any means.
Is phone wiring that much different? I mean, we're dealing with one pair of
wires instead of several pairs, right? How hard could it be?
