I second that... would suspect that it was mounted using a partion label
(ie: "LABEL=/") instead of a device path (ie: "/dev/hda3"), as many distros
tend to do that these days... Of course, when you stick that into another box
as a secondary drive, there are now 2 partitions labeled "LABEL=/".
Another possibility is that your root partion was made as a LVM. Its ind of a
pain, but you should be able to mount those as well.
