[Tfug] Pima Classes

I have an acquaintance who needs their hand held a little and I have been identified as the local guru (boy are they in for a suprise), but then that are paying the standard "friend rate" for tech support.  :)
It seems that they are doing a Linux install for a CIS class.  
Can any of you all advise me in a little?  
Is there a particular Distro I should point them towards, or does the distro they would need come with the textbook?
