Hi All,
Thank you all for your help and guidance.
I went to SWS and much to my surprise I was able to buy a 1TB WD drive for $135. Man look what happens when I'm not looking.
My first computer was a commodore 64 and my second computer was a garage clone 8088 upgraded to 640k of RAM, 2 - 360k - 5.25'' floppies, and a 14'' monochrome monitor. Oh and it had a 300 baud modem. It came with a 8 pin dot matrix printer and I think I paid about $1100 or so for it and which I think was a bargain.
The next year I added a 20M hard drive (Seagate 225 ?? or was it a 265). I think it was almost $300. Yikes!!! And that was when $300 was a lot of money.
10 years ago I think I paid close to $200 each for two 20Gig hard drives.
So today I bought 50 times as much storage as one of those drive would hold and it was cheaper than I would ever have expected.
Here is the scary part. Each time I get a bigger drive I find I need one even bigger. I wonder what the drives or medium will be like 10 years from now?
100TB for $59.00 ?? And the O/S takes up 1TB.
Thanks again!!

The only drives I've ever had that died were Maxtors. And I've had
several fail. The only Maxtors that didn't fail were a couple of external
drives I used. But they were only accessed when I needed to do the occasional
backup.
Good luck,
Rocco
