Is your friend running apache on Windows for his httpd server? If so,
configuration should be pretty much like apache on Linux. If not, get him
to switch (!!).

Hi,
I work exclusively with Linux web servers so I have no familiarity with how
windows servers work or how to configure stuff.
Is there an equivalent .htaccess for windows servers?
I use the .htaccess to do 301 redirects and to ensure the visitor is on the
www.domainname.tld vs domainname.tld and other stuff.
I'm helping a friend with his website and it was build using ASP. So it
runs on windows. I was wondering how I would cause the visitor to always
be on www.domainname.tld vs domainname.tld.
As I write this, I realize that I will need to place a robots.txt file in
root. Does this function the same as on a Linux server?
I love Linux so please no flames.
Thanks for your help.
