look, this is just not an excuse. Way back as i was in Green Valley, my 
wife used to email me
on a slackware box v.24 to a UHF-packet-radio wireless to an internet 
gateway. OK, this
was sort of convoluted, but she (a non geek) just booted the slackware 
and used it like any
other OS; the convolution was transparent. You could view MS-win just as 
*one* Unix
process, thus just a fracion of the power of Unix. If that's all you 
need, fine. :-P
