[Tfug] optical audio?

Does anyone have experience with those new fiber optic audio connectors? If
so, what's your take on it? I have a fiber audio port on my motherboard,
and I am wondering if the sound quality is really that great that i should
get a new reciever that supports this new technology. Also, the cable is
jacketed, but can the light bend around sharp bends (like 90 degrees+)?
