[Tfug] [O/T?] Sending Mail from Earthlink

I have been having trouble sending email from Earthlink for almost 2 
weeks.  I did not see any notice of a change in policy.  It appears to 
be an attempt to stop outgoing spam.  I didn't think Earthlink ran open 
mail relays.

I am using Thunderbird for Linux.

I had to set outgoing email server to

smtpauth.earthlink.net

Outgoing port to

Port 587  (required?)

And I told Thunderbird to use TLS if available.  (required?  not sure.)

Now Earthlink prompts me for a password when I send email.
