I have Gnome on Debian Etch and nothing relies on Mono. Can you
provide a reference or list of applets that were built on Mono?
Is it possible that "most of it's applets" should really be "some
applets that are not part of the base Gnome project"?
Or maybe it's not as obvious when something is built on Mono. Is
it possible to compile a Mono project so it does not rely on the
Mono Common Language Runtime (CLR)? I don't believe it is, but if
so, then I suppose the applets could be compiled with Mono and I
am just not aware of it.
On the other hand, I do know that Miguel de Icaza, co-founder of
Gnome and Mono, was talking about using Mono in Gnome desktop
applications as early as 2002 [1]. But it appears this has not
happened yet. [2]
