As JD said, you could run a VPN connection over UAPublic (that's the
SSID), or you could register and configure UAWiFi, which has higher
bandwidth and is essentially unrestricted. I've been using UAWiFi on
both XP and OS X since they rolled it out, and it's been pretty good
to me. I haven't had any issues with SSH or any other non-port-80
services I've tried to use.
