[Tfug] Debian vs Ubuntu issue

I much rather run Debian than Ubuntu, as Debian is one of the strongest
and most stable of the distros out there. Probably truer to the Open
Source concept than the others, IMHO.
It is also my understanding that Ubuntu dropped the support for the ppc
platform, LTS not withstanding.
I have used Debian in the past on a white box pc, and I want to use it
on this iMac G5.
As far as vido goes, the graphic chip in my iMac is a ATI Radeon X600
Pro with 128 mb of vram. The reason that I used the 800 by 600 setting
is because all the distros I have tried (Ubuntu, Debian 'Etch', Fedora
Core, and Gentoo) blows up (and in some cases, shut down the system) at
the beginning of installation with using the regular setting, 1152 by
720 with millions of colors (this is the setting that I uses with OS X).
Why do I want to use Linux instead of being content with OS X ? For me
Linux is just better.
