[Tfug] My experience "recovering" Windows compared to installing Debian

just out of curiosity, why remove the (20, you say) software packages? My
Windows partition has junk on it I never have used and probably never will,
but with the cost of storage these days (come on, I got two 250 gig SATA 2
HDs for like $75 each) I simply leave it on. And to reboot a computer 5
times (during the update process, correct?) took 7-8 hours? You know, I saw
a commercial for fiber optic internet, 20 megs per second, for $99/month
(only in the Tucson area). If the internet was sufficient, I have an old
3.06 GHz Pentium 4 Socket 775 CPU you can have, because that computer needs
some serious upgrading. Now I do understand that Windows has numerous
limitations, but wow, 10 hours. Even my beta copy of Vista took about
1.5hours from first turning on my compter to the time it first plays
that stereotypical welcome sound. I also completely agree with Predrag in
that My Ubuntu installation expierence was extremely quick and painless (WAY
quicker than Windows, definitely).
