[Tfug] [OT] Dakotacom / NewEdge

Hi Jim,
Yep, some DakotaCom people lurk here. I get to check in about once every
couple of weeks...
Anyways, for the New Edge service, we are severing ties due to the lack of
support from New Edge. They have moved their front line support to an
offshore company, and their responsiveness to tickets has gone down. We feel
this is no longer a quality service to our customers and are looking at
other connection options we have for better support. If no one has been in
touch with you by now, please let me know off list and I'll follow up on
your account.
Thanks,
Chuck

The customer base using this service has decreased dramatically over the
years. It was declining when I worked there. This is due to the wide
availability of broadband throughout the city and outlying areas. Back
in the day if you couldn't get cable or DSL this was a viable, though
sometimes costly, alternative.
I suspect DakotaCom's margins dropped to where they were losing money on
it. An alternative to their New Edge product will be their wireless
product or SimplyBits wireless. This is assuming you can't get cable or
Qwest DSL. I'm preferential to SimplyBits' wireless as they use Motorola
Canopy equipment. I would research both as an option though.
