2wire makes their gateway / router secure right off the shelf. Not too many support calls. WEP Key is on bottom of hardware and is well documented.
If I ever accidentally connect to someone else's wireless and am charged with a crime you know the 2nd thing on my agenda will be suing them. I believe they are the root of the problem.
I think everyone and his/her brother/sister has a d-link that is configured wide open. In my mind the manufacture is the culpable party.
If a woman can sue MacDonald's for burning herself with hot coffee, then surely someone will be successful at suing the wifi manufactures that configure their products w/o security.

The prisons don't scare me. It's the unwanted sex that does.
Do you really think manufacturers will make configuring wireless AP's and
connecting to them afterwards easier? The optimist in me says yes but the
realist says no.
