[Tfug] duplicate ip address (off topic)

You would have a conflict like any other conflict.  You will see the ARP
entry fluctuate on the gateway and see sporadic conenctivity to the hosts.
 Depending on the router, you might also see duplicate IP address errors
in the log or on the console.
