[Tfug] Thinking linux

The speed is something on the order of 700 or 800 mHz duron, w/ like 750 mB
of ram. By guts, I do mean the kernel, and all the other system config
stuff. I'm used to doing all that stuff in text editor, instead of with a
*Control Center* type
environment. I also don't want all the bells and whistles that come w/
KDE. I use fvwm w/ a very simple but intuitive config file. It's all
I need or want. I'm not a programmer or developer or anything, but as I
started to learn FreeBSD, I started to realise that a bit of a simple,
stripped down environment satisfies me more.

Anyway, I think I've decided to go with XUbuntu. Mainly because I have a
friend at work who has decided to take the plunge and move away from
windows. She's not a computer enthusiast though, and I would like to
help her stick with it. I've been able to help
her with generic unix-like questions, but I'd like to be able to give her
ubuntu specific answers.
