That is scary. I DO use Emacs. I DO write proofs and yes I DO have a Ph. D. in Mathematics.But it looks like I might be having multiple personality since I do use nvi (light FreeBSD version of  vim ) when  I ssh to my computer and vi  when I ssh to department's Debian machine.I also use ee to edit configuration files (Easy Edit from FreeBSD) which is the easies editor on the world. Never tried nano or pico. I do know Windows EDIT.  Yes  I did  crazy  things  back in a day  on  MS-DOS.
