Why are you bothering to flip switch one at all then?

Flip switch 2, wait five minutes, then flip it off.  Flip switch 3,
and open the box.

Cool bulb = switch 1
Warm buld = switch 2
Lit bulb = switch 3

Doesn't that work the same?

I still like my suggestion better as you get to say, "Well, you didn't
tell me not to break anything..."
